![A very realistic painting of two cockatoos - one is black and one, behind it, is black with small yellow spots on its feathers. The cockatoo that is black with yellow spots has its beak around a branch of a tree, which has medium-sized green leaves and bright red berries on it.](/sites/default/files/styles/max_width_700/public/Untitled%20design_1.png?h=cbc4c236&itok=4BdcEVCK)
From the massive Birds of America by Audubon, to possibly the first-ever illustration of the Eastern Rosella by the Sydney Bird Painter in the 1790s, view some of the Library's most beautiful, awe-inspiring and valuable books and drawings of birds. These illustrations by Audubon, Gould, Levaillant, Lear, Cooper and many others are so accurately rendered in watercolour and hand-coloured prints that they could fly off the page and into the Botanic Gardens nearby.
A bird-loving team of Library curators will be on hand to turn pages and smooth ruffled feathers.
